The inauguration of the Centenary year of the Congregation coincided with the canonical erection Bethany Convent, Vikuge/Novitiate building the second community in Tanzania in the Archdiocese of Dar-Es-Salaam.

Inauguration of Bethany Convent/ Bethany Novitiate, Vikuge
On 16th July 2020 Fr Jacob Prabhakar MoC, the Parish Priest blessed the house and the Novitiate building at Vikuge, at 12 noon, in the presence of Sr Antonette, the Delegation Superior, the members of the Delegation, Novices, formees at different stages and a few parishioners. The inaugural Eucharistic Celebration began with the members of the Delegation led in procession with rhythmic steps singing the Bethany Anthem. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was officiated by Fr Jacob Prabhakar, the Parish Priest, and the concelebrants Fr Pius MSFS, Fr William MSFS and Fr Prashanth Raj MSFS. After the homily, the Decree of erection issued by Sr Rose Celine BS the Superior General was read by Sr Antonette Coutinho, the Delegation Superior. Sr Namritha was appointed as the Superior, Sr Anseline the Novice Directress and Sr Cheriline, the Assistant directress were the members.

During the short felicitation program, centenary symphony was sung by the formees. Then Sr Namritha, the newly appointed Superior, raised her voice in gratitude to the Superior General for entrusting her the responsibility of animating the community and thanked all the members of the Delegation for their cooperation to make the day meaningful.
The presence of Mr Charles Simon Assey the benefactor and donor of the 7 acres of land with his family, added joy to our celebration. During the meal Mr Charles Assey was thanked profusely for his benevolence towards the Congregation. He, in turn congratulated the sisters for the efforts made to construct the beautiful Novitiate House. Thereafter the Novitiate hitherto housed at Mwanga, Same Diocese was transferred to Vikuge in the Archdiocese of Dar-Es-Salaam. Sr Anseline the Novice Directress, Sr Cheriline, the Assistant and 8 Novices were happy to continue the formation in a new environment.

We are grateful to Sr Rose Celine the Superior General and her councillors for the encouragement, support and guidance in this new venture, and Sr Antonette for her meticulous planning and supervision of the construction work. This is truly the materialization of the centenary Logo: 'Let Bethany grow, flower and bear fruit' in resonance with the dream of our Founder Servant of God Msgr. Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas.
