On 02 February 2025 the World Day of Consecrated Life, five Pre-Novices namely Bibiana, Jackline, Theresia, Adela, and Irene were joyfully initiated into Bethany Novitiate, Vikuge. Hailing from different parts of Tanzania, these young women have courageously responded to God’s call, taking their first steps into a life of deeper commitment to Christ.
The newly appointed Novice Directress, Sr Roshel Mascarenhas, warmly welcomed them into the Bethany family. Sr Antonette Coutinho, the Delegation Superior of Tanzania, officiated the initiation ceremony, exhorting them to be like the five wise virgins who kept their lamps burning, ever ready to receive the bridegroom. She reminded them that, on this auspicious day of the Presentation of Jesus, they are called to gather the oil of prayer, penance, self-sacrifice, and joyful service. Sr Namritha, the Pre-Novice Directress, Sr Madhu, Sr Rebeka and Sr Tarsila were present on the occasion.
As these five young women begin their spiritual journey, let us lift them in prayer, seeking the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Queen and Mother of Bethany, St Thérèse of the child Jesus the second patroness, and Bethany saints. May they be strengthened in faith, perseverance, and love as they prepare to embrace a life wholly dedicated to Christ and His mission.
