Healing Minisrty
“All in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him, and healed all of them’. (Lk 6:19)
Jesus went about doing good and healing all those who suffered physically, psychologically, spiritually, culturally, socially and emotionally. His healing sap flows in all who are called to this mission of compassion and healing. After the example of Jesus the great healer, our Founder was inspired to initiate the sisters for this healing ministry. From the very early beginnings of our Congregation he had a vision for the uplift of the sick, the poor, depressed and downtrodden. With this in mind he encouraged and trained the sisters to undertake various healing missions in the remotest villages and dispense medicine. He desired that through the healing ministry we aim at total well being and wholeness of the person. ‘The diseases are cured as much by prayer, soft and cheering words and devoted attention of those attending on the patients as by medicines’ he said. The contemplation of Christ in the healing ministry is the source of energy to those engaged in this apostolate. The medical apostolate is distinguished not only by efficiency but also by spiritual fervor and love that we bring to the sick, the terminally ill, the aged and the differently abled.

Care for the elderly
Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into places of pain, to share in the brokenness, fear, confusion and anguish of those who suffer. The Founder, who lived radically the teachings of Christ, recognized healing ministry as a practical way of sharing the compassionate love of Jesus. As consecrated persons we encounter Jesus in the sick and the suffering. In order to reach out to the unreached in our healing ministry, we equip ourselves with the knowledge of growing trends in medical fields and medical ethics. Taking the inspiration from the Founder, the Bethany sisters offer their services whether small or great, professional or otherwise, institutional or non-institutional, care for the home bound, and wherever the physical suffering and pain is manifested they take Christ’s soothing presence with them.
