Sr M Lumina of Our Lady of Carmel

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith (2 Tim 4:7).
Sr Lumina BS (94) nee Regina Flavia D’ Rosa Carvalho of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away on Holy Saturday March 31, 2018 at Bethany Convent, Sao Jose de Areal, Salcette, Goa. She belongs to the Western Province and hails from Orlim, Salcette, Goa, and is the daughter of Late Mr Lucas Carvalho and Late Mrs Assucena Pereira.
Sr Lumina is a rare gift of God to our Congregation; she began her religious life at Bethany Motherhouse, Bendur, Mangalore, in the year 1947teaching at St Martha’s Industrial School; she has to her credit thirteen years of service, administering this Institute under her watchful care. She has also served at Little Flower High School, Kinnigolyasa craft teacher. Her service to Holy Mother the Church is truly universal as she lovingly served at Sudeep Institute-NBCLC and Catholic Centre, Bangalore, and also at Archbishop’s House, Bhuvaneshwar. She had a special gift of pioneering the missions, nurturing every Institute wherever she was placed, by her tenacity, hard labour and diligence. Her life of prayer and deep faith in God were outstanding. Her declining years of life from 1986 were spent at Bethany Convent, Salcette, Goa.
Today in her, we have an intercessor in heaven along with our revered Founder, the Servant of God, Raymond F.C. Mascarenhas and our sisters who intercede for us. We are grateful to God for her gift to Bethany Congregationand to the Church at large.
Funeral cortege leaves Bethany Convent to StJoseph's Church, Sao Jose de Areal, Salcette, Goa on April 2, 2018 at 11 a.m followed by Mass.
