Sr M Paschalia BS (86) nee Celine Pinto of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away on September 25, 2022 at 11.40am. She is the member of Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla. She is the daughter of late Lawrence Pinto and late Joanna Pinto belonging to Our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem of Mangalore Diocese. She has four brothers and one sister. Her funeral rites will be on Monday, 26 September at03.30 pm at Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla.
Sr M Paschalia completed her Primary Education at PompeiHr Pry School Kirem, and High School at Little Flower Girl’s High School, Kinnigoli. She joined Bethany on 08 December 1956. She made her First Profession on 02 July 1959 and Perpetual Profession on 04 May 1965 offering herself totally to the Lord.
Sr Paschalia had great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and Blessed Mother. She spent long hours before the Blessed Sacrament. She was prompt to rise early and spend the day in the presence of the Lord drawing divine energy from Him. The celebration of the Eucharist was her breath. One would see her praying Rosary very devoutly. She was a person of prayer, simple by nature with cheerful countenance. She was neat and tidy. Orderliness and fidelity to the given task was notable. She had great respect and regard to the authority and was willing to take up any assignment entrusted to her.
As an efficient teacher and Headmistress, she rendered her services at Dornahalli, Sagar, Basrur, Nirkan, Neerude, Padukone and enlightened thousands of students through her life example, compassion and commitment. She possessed the qualities such as love for others, concern, sensitivity and generosity towards the sisters, the poor and the needy. She was committed and loyal to the Congregation. After her retirement she devoted herself to the pastoral work, visiting the sick in the families comforting and praying for them. For many years she found great joy in serving the Lord as sacristan especially at Padukone.
Owing to her ill health she was transferred to Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla in 2019. Due to hipbone fracture she was admitted to Fr. Muller’s Hospital and after surgery she was back and lived a normal life in the community. As days went by her health began to deteriorate. On September 18 2022 she was admitted to Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoly for medical care. On 25September she breathed her last due to cardiac arrestand made her total surrender peacefullyto the Lord of her life. The Provincial Councilors, Sr Leera Maria the Superior and sisters of Rosa Mystica Community along with sisters from Maryvale Convent, Kinnigoly and her brother rushed to her bed side and offered prayers.
I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Cicilia Mendonca, the Provincial Superior and all the sisters of Mangalore Province; Sr Leera Maria, the local Superior and the members of Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace!
