Having accomplished her mission on earth, Sr Mary Pramila Fernandes breathed her last on Saturday 19 November, 2022 at 1:10 am at the age of 68 and 39th year of her religious life at St John’s Medical College and hospital. Sr Mary Pramila Fernandes hails from Bellore,Dakshina Kannada,Mangalore. She was the fifth child among the six children of late Jerome Fernandes and Late Nathalia Fernandes.Sr Mileburge her elder sister, a Bethany Sister, member of Rosa Mystica Convent Mangalore, cousin sister of Sr Rose Celine BS the Superior General and Sr Monthi Fernandes BS and aunt of Sr Preethi Prathima BS.

Sr Pramila was a loving sister, caring and concerned about the welfare of the sisters.She had a great love for the poor, the sick, the aged and the needy. She carried out all her assigned responsibilities placing her trust in the Lord and considering it as her God given mission.Her devotion towards the Blessed Sacrament and Blessed Virgin Mary was notable. She spent time in intercessory prayers and recitation of the rosary. She was obedient, respectful and very grateful to Bethany Congregation.

She had her Primary and Secondary school education at St Michael’s Higher Primary School, Bellore and High School Studies at TDB Junoir Collage Benjanapadau Mangalore. She joined Bethany in 1980 and made her First profession in 1983 and final profession in 1989. She had her further studies in Dharward University and TCH at Rosa Mystica Mangalore. After her profession, she served as a loving and dedicated teacher in our institutions at St Antony’s Convent Ponnampet, Madeleine Convent Londa, Presentation Convent Dharwad, Sacred Heart Convent Basrikatte, Holy Cross Convent Arsikere, Fatima Convent Dornahalli, and St Martha’s Convent Mudigere.

Sr Pramila had spent the major period of her life in teaching apostolate. She was also involved in pastoral activities such as teaching catechism, visiting families and visiting the sick. After her retirement from teaching ministry, she actively engaged herself in the ministry of prayer.

She was transferred to Bethany Convent Bangalore for medical treatment. She was suffering from chronic diabetes mellitus disease and was on treatment. On 18th November she showed symptoms of uneasiness and was admitted to St John’s medical College and Hospital Bangalore. On 19th morning at 1:10am she suffered from septic shock with severe metabolic acidosis and left to her eternal abode. Hearing this news Sr Mariette, the General Councillor who was in Bethany Provincial House Bangalore for the visitation along with Sr Violet D’souza General Procurator, Sr Sahana the Provincial Superior along with her councillors went to St John’s Hospital to commend her soul to God. Her Funeral rites will be held at St John the Evangelist Church Bangalore on 19.11.2022 at 4:00 pm.

Eternal Rest Grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.
