“Like gold in the Furnace, he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering He accepted them.”Wisdom 3/6.
Today these words from the book of wisdom have been realized in the life of Sr Jason BS of the Little Flower (68 years) who waited for the crown of glory at every moment of her illness. Her constant longing to meet her beloved during her intense illness became a reality as she bade goodbye to this life and joined new life in Jesus the Risen Savior at 11.30 am at Presentation Convent, Dharwad.
Sr Jason of the Little Flower was born on 10th January 1955, as the third child among eight children born to Mr John Ferrao and Mrs Lucy Castelino of Our Lady of Health Parish, Shirva in Udupi Diocese. Sister hails from a God fearing and dedicated Christian family where faith and piety reigned. Her parents instilled in their children from very tender age, a deep love for God and the Church, filial devotion to our Blessed Mother and Gospel values.
Sr Jason joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany on 28.05.1972. After her religious formation she has rendered services in the Congregation as Superior of communities. Her conscientious religious commitment and her missionary zeal are remarkable. In rain or sunshine her devotion to duty was unparalleled. She was joyful in living and had a cheerful countenance. She served in the field of education as teacher and Headmistress at Ave Maria, Sirsi, St Michael’s Convent, Dandeli, Fatima Convent, Madanbhavi, Presentation Convent, Dharwad, Sacred Heart, Basrikatte, Madeline Convent, Londa, Gratia Plena, Santibastwad, Christ the King, Guledgudd and Bethany Convent, Ankola. As a committed and dedicated teacher she won the hearts of children and parents alike.
In the month of November 2022, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. From then she has been on medication from Fr Muller Hospital Kankanady and thereafter our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Dharwad. She suffered much in the spirit of endurance. On Friday 13th October her condition became critical and was administered with last Sacraments. On Saturday she received Holy Communion. She continued to be critical and the sisters kept watch and prayed. Having resigned to God’s will she flew to her creator in the presence of sisters and family members praying around her at 11.30 am, on 15.10.2023 to join in the company of the departed to enjoy heavenly bliss free from suffering.
Funeral rites will be held at Holy Cross Church, Dharwad on 16.10.2023, at 10.30 a.m. Mass will be officiated by Most Rev. Dr. Derek Fernandes, Bishop of Belgaum Diocese.
I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Sally, the Provincial Superior and all the sisters of Western Province, Sr Archana, the local Superior and the members of Presentation Convent, Dharwad.
Eternal Rest Grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace Amen.
Sr Rose Celine BS
