August 14, 2017: The General and Provincial administrative team members and the Sisters involved in temporal administration at various stages of our Congregation gathered at Bethany Mother House, Bendur on 14th August 2017 for the annual appraisal and updating programme. At the outset Sr. Christine Noronha, the Procurator General extended a warm welcome to the participants and said “Ours is a common cause and it teaches us to be accurate, transparent and vigilant in the use of the temporal resources entrusted to our care. We are the trustees and stewards who are to protect and safe guard the assets of our Congregation”. Sr. Rose Celine, Superior General in her key note address appreciated the Sisters for their self-sacrificing and enterprising spirit, diligence and commitment. She cautioned the participants to be vigilant, accountable and judicious in the management of the material resources of the Congregation. The Spirituality of temporal administration was illustrated by Sr. Dona B.S quoting scriptural references, Canon Law and the Book of Constitutions. She brought home the message of living our consecrated life emulating the faithful stewardship exemplified in the life of Pope Francis, SD Mgr. Raymond F.C Mascarenhas our Founder, and the founding members. Mr. Giridhar Kamath, the Auditor of the Congregation expounded the salient features of Goods and Service Tax (GST), the newly introduced Taxation System in our Country. He elucidated the main features of GST, and its applicability to the Congregation. Sr. Christine Noronha gave practical tips to make our accounting system more systematic and accurate. The participants expressed that all of us need to follow the internal check and control systems with greater earnestness so that we become credible and are prepared to meet any eventualities.
