With immense joy and gratitude to God, in the benign presence of Bishop Agnelo Rufino Gracias, the Apostolic Administrator of Jallandhar Diocese, Sister Rose Celine BS, Superior General of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, Sr Erasma the Provincial Superior of Northern Province and her team, Bethany Sisters of the various communities of the Northern Province, members of BLA, representatives of Christ King Parish Council, Ramdas, well-wishers and friends, the solemn inauguration and blessings of Bethany Convent, Girl Students Home and Ashadeep Social Service Centre-all in one,took place on the auspicious day of 6 May 2024 at 10.30am.
Bethany Convent, Ramdas was opened on 16 July 1989 with four daring pioneers – Sr Helima the Superior, late Sr Agnes Sequeira, Sr Savina Nanda and Sr Veronica Monteiro with a modest and humble beginning. Sisters occupied a part of the school for 35 long years and carried on the Pastoral, Educational, Social, Medical and Hostel ministries enthusiastically and fruitfully with synodality.In spite of all the inconveniences, insecurities, uncertainties, ups and downs of life, fear of war and terrorism in the Indo-Pak border, they were authentic witnesses of Christ, through their word and example.
6 May 2024 is a historical and a promising day for Bethany Congregation, Northern Province, and Sisters at Ramdas. A long-awaited day dawned with plentiful of blessings and rich promises of the Lord for the future mission and new Evangelization. It was a day where hope was reborn, dreams were reshaped, and a new journey was unfolded “Unless the Lord builds the house, in vain do the builders labour.” The house was inaugurated by Sr Rose Celine, the Superior General, Sr Erasma, the Provincial Superior unveiled the plague and Bishop Agnelo Rufino Gracias, the Apostolic Administrator of Jallandhar blessed the building.
So, it was a day of rejoicing, thanksgiving and praising our God for the beautiful dwelling place for sisters, Hostel for girl children and Social Work Centre for mission during the memorable year of the twin Jubilee of 150 Birth Anniversary and 125 Ordination anniversary of our beloved Founder, the Servant of God Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas.
With gladness and thanksgiving to the Trinitarian God, the Saints of Bethany, our Blessed Mother and our beloved Founder sisters entered the house of God for thanksgiving Holy Eucharist and made this event a momentous and memorable one in the annals of the Northern Province.
