O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever ! Ps.107:1” The Western Province joins the entire Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, for His choice of Sr Sally BS the Provincial Superior who was installed for the II Term along with her Councillors Sr Shalet Mendonca BS, Sr Anitha Shanthi BS, Sr Michelle BS and Sr Assumpta BS, to lead and guide the Sisters of Western Province.
The installation ceremony was conducted by Sr Shanthi Priya, the delegate of the Superior General on May 19, 2024 preceded by the Thanksgiving Eucharist officiated by Fr Peter D’ Souza and an hour of prayer to implore the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the leaders taking charge, it being the feast of Pentecost. The Sisters from the length and breadth of the Western Province represented along with their Local Superiors in solidarity, to rejoice at God’s choice of the Provincial Superior in Sr Sally and her Councillors Sr Shalet Mendonca, Sr Anitha Shanthi, Sr Michelle and Sr Assumpta. Sr Philomen Saldanha compeered the programme while Sr Leena Maria welcomed one and all.
We cannot but recall in gratitude, our beloved founder Servant of God Raymond F C Mascarenhas, on this occasion, for his preferential love for this Belgaum mission which has been bearing much fruit as Western Province now. Today gifting Sr Sally for another term as Provincial Superior, God has manifested his love and care, assuring his faithfulness to the vine that he planted way back in 1921.
The sentiments of gratitude prevailed in the heart of one and all for the ‘fiat’ of Sr Sally for accepting to animate the Western Province for the second term as its Provincial Superior, through these challenging times and to each of the four Councilors for their ready ‘yes’ to collaborate with her in the ministry of service of leadership. Sr Michelle who proposed the vote of thanks acknowledged the presence of one and all, especially to Sr Shanthi Priya, the Delegate of the Superior General for conducting the installation and the inspiring message she delivered inviting each one to be shepherds after the pattern spelt out in the scriptures, as enumerated in Ch.34 of the book of Ezekiel.
May God’s Holy Spirit on this day of Pentecost manifest his power mightily upon them and fill them with his sevenfold gifts and twelvefold fruits in abundance, to make this offshoot of Bethany – the Western Province – vivacious and fruit bearing.
