Bendur, November 9: Central Administration assembly, an annual feature, took place in the Pushpalaya Hall of Bethany Mother House, on 9 November 2020 based on the theme: Call to Discipleship through Human Fraternity and Social Friendship emerging from the encyclical of Pope Francis ‘Fratelli Tutti’.
In her opening prayer Sr Anitha Shanthi made the gathering aware of the urgency to be like the Good Samaritan. Sr Rose Celine, in her presidential address gave a clarion call to the Sisters to be builders of fraternity and social friendship, by practicing the spirituality of communion and bearing one another’s burden (Gal 6:2). Rev Fr Joseph Martis, former Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, placed before the assembly succinctly, the highlights of the path breaking encyclical ‘Fratellli Tutti’. Reflecting on the practical applications and relevance of the encyclical for everyday life, sisters presented the findings to the assembly.

 

 

 

 

Sr Cleopha, presented a comprehensive annual report of the life and mission of the community. Report of the educational apostolate was placed before the assembly by Sr Philomene the Co-ordinator of education, Sr Leena D’Costa, the Co-ordinator of Social Work reported the activities of Sahodaya, under Bethany Social Service Trust. Sr Shalet Mendonca, the tertian directress, gave an account of the formation programme of the tertians for the recent months.
Sisters were enthusiastic to chalk out an action plan for the year, in the light of the new insights. The assembly had high appreciation for the role played by Mother House community in extending warm hospitality to all those who step into the community from all over the Congregation. Sr Shanthi Flavia compered the programme of the day. The Curtain was drawn on the proceedings of the day with an Ecumenical Prayer and words of gratitude to those responsible for the organization and for the smooth completion of the programme.
