“I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord forever; with my mouth, I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations” (Ps 89:1).
In this joyful season of Easter and amidst pandemic, we the 16 young maidens of the Centenary batch committed our lives to God with great joy and burning zeal on 25th April 2021. The solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Jaya Raj Veluswami SJ, Rector of St Xaviers’ College, Kolkata, concelebrated by FrVivien SJ, the Director of Arunoday and Fr Francis SJ.Sr Sandhya, the Provincial Superior of Guwahati province received our Vows. She represented the Congregation and the Provincials of North, Easternand Silchar Provinces and our family members who could not be present physically due to Covid-19. Fr Jaya Raj in his homily gave a thought-provoking message and presented the deeper meaning of ‘Here I am’. Quoting one of the poems of Rabindranath Tagore, he compared us to 16 flower cuttings and encouraged us to say ‘Now I am ready to be planted where God wants through Bethany’. We were motivated to bear fruit in plenty by being attached to the person of Christ our eternal Bridegroom.
After the Solemn Liturgy we were led to the Grotto of our Queen and Mother of Bethany to sing the Magnificat. Thereafter, our junior sisters congratulated us with a melodious congratulation chorus. We were greeted with a bouquet of flowers and were warmly received intothe Bethany family. We are immensely grateful to Sr Sandhya for her presence. We are indebted to Sr Rose Celine, our Superior General, Provincials, our formators Sr Clare, Sr Jhansi, Sr Elizabeth Uchoi, and Sr Priyadarshini for their great sacrifices in helping us to be transformed unto Christ. We are determined and convinced to live for Jesus to whom we have committed our life and bear fruit in plenty for His Kingdom.
