The annual Vocation Promoters' meeting, a gathering of esteemed representatives from Mangalore, Bangalore, Western and Southern Provinces, along with the Central Administration, convened on the 31stof August at Bethany Provincial House, Bangalore. The sanctity of the occasion was gracefully ushered in with the ceremonial lighting of the diya, followed by a prayer led by Sr Sandya.The event, marked by its significance, witnessed the presence of Sr Santhosh Maria, the General Councilor and Coordinator for Vocation Promotion, who extended a warm welcome to the 38 dedicated participants. Her keynote address resonated with appreciation for the tireless efforts of the Province coordinators in the pursuit of nurturing vocations, acknowledging the formidable challenges that accompany this noble endeavor.
Rev. Fr John Pradeep SJ, the Novice Master at Mt St Joseph, graced the event as the honored resource person. Sr Prathima introduced and welcomed him, setting the stage for captivating input sessions. Commencing with the screening of the thought-provoking movie "Two Popes," he drew from his personal experiences to elucidate the strategies imperative for nurturing modern vocations. He emphasized the need to adopt the methodology of Jesus, who, before choosing his disciples, spent all night in fervent prayer. He encouraged profoundself-reflection among the facilitators, urging them to contemplate their roles in the recruitment process and to ask fundamental questions about who, why and how vocations are chosen. Employing the metaphor of the Potter at his wheel, Fr Pradeep emphasized the notion that profound transformations occur from within. He highlighted the paramount importance of care and care-fronting, touching upon the physical, intellectual, emotional (including the sensitive issue of sexuality), relational and spiritual dimensions. He underlined that fruitful formation hinges on a relentless pursuit of quality, positivity, equality, fidelity, priority, creativity and embracing multicultural perspectives.He advocated for the formation of formators through counseling, specialized courses and constructive feedback, asserting that such an approach would usher in a state of wellness and wholeness within the formation process. The vote of thanks was graciously proposed by Sr Smitha, concluding the morning session.
In the afternoon, participants were organized into groups for an insightful group discussion. Delving into the intricate issues, challenges and potential solutions surrounding the vocation recruitment process discussions yielded valuable insights. The findings from these groups were then presented to the assembly moderated by Sr Rose Ann.Furthermore, Provincespecific action plans were meticulously planned and presented, enriching the collective understanding of the challenges and possible strategies. Sr Mariette, in her concluding address, lauded Sr Santhosh Maria for her unwavering dedication in inspiring sisters through both online and offline forums, motivating them to remain steadfast in the noble mission of vocation animation.In a heartfelt response, Sr Santhosh Maria expressed gratitude and encouraged all present to tread the less-traveled path with untiring determination and unwavering dedication. The vote of thanks for the entire day's proceedings was eloquently done by Sr Reena Dsouza, and Sr Alphonsa led a concluding prayer, bringing the event to a harmonious close. Sr Savitha Dsouza pleasantly facilitated the day's proceedings, ensuring anunceasing and enriching experience for all.
