Bethany Convent, Kadru, marked 25th anniversary of its existence on January 21, 2023. On this auspicious day unfolding the memories of the past 25 years it was an opportunity to revisit the original charism and spirit of Bethany. Most Reverend Archbishop Felix Toppo SJ, Archbishop of Ranchi Archdiocese, presided over the Holy Eucharist and Fr Peter Sanga, Parish priest and two other priests concelebrated.
Most Rev Felix Toppo SJ urged the sisters to live more intensely the Charism and spirit of Founder Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas, making ourselves accessible to the under privileged and marginalized through our mission.He urged the sisters to foster meaningful relationships in the communities, to be witnesses as Consecrated religious.
A brief felicitation programme followed thereafter. Sr Jessy Maria, the Provincial Superior, expressed gratitude to the pioneers Sr Hilerian, Sr Miriam, Sr Maria Nancy, Sr Shalom, and Sr Natal Patil, affirming that their hard labour is being rewarded bountifully. She thanked Sr Miriam, the former Provincial Superior who with the support of her councillors, under the guidance of late Superior General Sr Agnella, had explored the possibility of purchasing the first house from Mr. Manjit Singhon August 22, 1996. Sr Wilberta the Provincial Superior was privileged to install Sr Hilerian as the first superior.
His Eminence Cardinal Telespore P Toppo, the Archbishop of Ranchi archdiocese, was gratefully remembered forbeing a tower of strength to our sisters. Journeying smoothly under the wings of God’s protection guided bycapable and motivating Superiors General Sr Agnella, Sr Jyoti, Sr Wilberta and Sr Rose Celine; Provincial Superiors Sr Wilberta, Sr Nora, Sr Maria Leena and local superiors, despite the setbacks and challenges for 25 years, is certainly a marvel of grace.
Sr Maria Nancy, one of the pioneers, Sr Hilerian, Sr Agnelita, Superiors,Sr Shaila former Provincial Superior, and Sr Jessy Maria the Provincial Superior were present on the occasion. A memento was presented to the pioneers, superiors, and sisters who were part of the mission for 25 years, acknowledging their dedicated services. Archbishop Felix Toppo thanked the sisters for their assistance in the mission of the Church and expressed his gratitude for Bethany’s contribution and friendship during his entire priestly career, beginning in Jinkpani in the Jamshedpur Diocese and continued in the Archdiocese of Ranchi. He was appreciative of our sisters' way of life and their labour of love in the mission.
The candidates kept the atmosphere of celebration alive with their enchanting dances. The joyous occasion was witnessed by the sisters of the Province, religious sisters of the parish and BLA members in Kadru, Ranchi.The day culminated with a fellowship meal.
