Feb 15, 2017 : It was a very propitious day to us the members of St Joseph community at Basrur . A Day to be written in golden letters. A day to count the blessings of the Lord Almighty as we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of our convent. We together with the pioneers namely Sr. Nazarene and Sr. Elnora, all the superiors, the Asst Superior General Sr. Lilles and the Provincial Superior Sr. Cecelia Mendonca, the b .L .A members, and the members of the parish council gathered around the Eucharistic table to celebrate the day of joy and praises. Fr.Anil the Dean of the Kundapur Deanery officiated the Eucharistic celebration and in his homily highlighted the selfless and tireless services of the Bethany Sisters and thanked God for their valuable presence in the Deanery . Fr. Roshan CAP the Episcopal Vicar for religious of Udupi Diocese and the Parish Priest Fr Vishal Lobo concelebrated the thanksgiving Mass.
To mark this beautiful event the sisters and the invites are gathered at the convent premises for the felicitation programme .Sr Hazel the Supeior of the house welcomed the guest and with her cheerful note. The pioneers Sr. Nazarene and Sr Elnora together with all the superiors were honored and recognized their generous service for the development of the mission in this locality. The parish priest acknowledged and appreciated the mission done by the sisters.
Sr M Cicilia Mendonca Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province congratulated the sisters for their committed service for the children and people of the area. She thanked the Parish priest Rev Fr Vishal Lobo, the members of Bethany Lay Association and the Parishioners for their whole hearted cooperation to the sisters.
Sr Lillis , the president of the function expressed her gratefulness to Late Bishop Basil D’Souza who had invited Bethany sisters to serve in St. Philip Neri Church, Basrur . She placed on record her appreciation to the various parish priests, parish council members and the parishioners who were very supportive of the Sisters. She lauded the sisters for their 50 years of commendable service in the field of education pastoral and social work. He thanked. Srs. Nazarine and Elnora who pioneered the mission were honored on this occasion.
Sr Lillis thanked the parents for sending their daughters to become Bethany sisters and stated that they are doling commendable service in India and abroad.
Speaking to the parents Sr. Lillis cautioned the parents to be watchful of the behavior of their children and to guide them when they go wrong and to encourage and appreciate them when they do well.
Every one enjoyed the scrumptious meal and then left the place praising God.
