The Pioneers
20.06.2019 is an auspicious day in the history of Eastern Province, the day of erection of Bethany Convent at Narayanpur, in Uttar Pradesh. Fr John Lobo blessed the new wing of the school building and Sr Shaila the Provincial Superior inaugurated the new block by cutting the ribbon at. 6 pm.
The existing Stella Maris School building, at Sultanpur was insufficient to cater to the needs of the increasing number of students. Sisters would commute from Sultanpur to Narayanpur every day which was time consuming and spiritual life of the sisters suffered as a result. For better animation and administration, the school and to impart quality education extension of the school to a nearby place was necessary.
As Stella Maris Convent School Sultanpur was affiliated to CBSE Delhi and Narayanpur was in a different location, the need was felt to have two independent schools. Hence the process of the affiliation of the school at Narayanpur started in 2018.
The new school building was constructed at Narayanpur, in July 2010, a small town in Sultanpur District, 7 K M away from the main town of Sultanpur. Thereafter Classes IV onwards were held at Narayanpur.
The following were the pioneers of the community. Sr Rosalia Kullu, superior, Sr. Shamitha the assistant superior, Sr Marie Jean, school Accountant and Sr Balbeena member.
Sr Shaila the Provincial Superior read the decree of erection and installed Sr Rosalia Kullu, the superior in the presence of Sr Jessy Maria the first councillor, Sr Agnelita, the Province Procurator, Sisters of Stella Maris Convent, Sultanpur, UMI Sisters and parishioners.
Bethany sisters, have rendered commendable services in the field of education and faith formation, pastoral apostolate in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Prayagraj (Allahabad). We are grateful to Sr Rose Celine the Superior General and her team for their cooperation in bringing to fulfillment this dream.
