Educational ministry
Regina Caeli convent was started by Rev Fr G. B. Pinto, the parish priest of Ranipura, on 31st May 1967 the feast of Queen-ship of Mary. The Parish Priest, along with the parishioners of Ranipura had great desire to have religious sisters and a school in the parish. Since it was a rural area the poor children were finding it difficult to get good education. So Rev Fr G. B. Pinto approached Rev Mother Macrina, the then Superior General of Bethany, and requested her to send the sisters to Ranipura convent. The first superior of the Regina Caeli Convent, Ranipura, was Sr Dulceline BS and Sr Crispina BS was the first headmistress of the School.
The old Somanath Ullia Primary school which was on the river side was shifted to the old church building near the convent and the school was upgraded to Class VI and VII. In 1976 the chapel was built and blessed by Rt Rev Dr Basil S DSouza Bishop of Mangalore. At present the sisters are involved in the teaching apostolate and other pastoral services.
