Bethany Convent, Mahim was established on 7 June 1990 in the already existing Convent of the Presentation Sisters, who had left the place. Sisters were entrusted with the pastoral work, educational ministry and sacristy work. It also served as a transit house to accommodate our sisters traveling from different parts of the country via Mumbai. Sr. Acquiline, the Superior, Sr Veronita, Sr Stella Maria and Sr Celine Petra formed the first community.

In 1996 Fr Salvador Rodrigues, the then parish priest, handed over the administration of St Michael’s Primary school to Bethany Congregation and Sr Patrina was appointed as the Head Mistress of the Primary School. On June 29, 2002 a new transit house ‘Maria Kripa’ was opened at Maria Nagar, Mahim.

Sr Veronita and Sr Prafulla have rendered dedicated service as teachers in St Michael’s High School.
On July 16, 2015 the sisters celebrated the 25 years of their presence and service at Mahim.

At present Sr Riya Shalet is the Headmistress of St. Michael High School (Primary section) and Sr Nancy Mascarenhas is the Asst. Teacher and Sr Philomen Gonsalves is full time sacristan at St Michael’s Church, Mahim.
