Having accomplished her mission on earth, Sr Theodosia breathed her last onTuesday, April 2, 2024, at 6:00am at the age of 91 and 63 years of religious life at Jyothi Nilaya, Bangalore. Sr Theodosia nee Winnie Pauline D’souza hails from Immaculate Conception Church,Mulki, Mangalore Diocese. She was the third child among the nine children of late Rosario D’souza and Ann Rose Fernandes. Her younger sister is Sr Gonzaga in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartholomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa.
Sr Theodosia had her Primary education at Mulki and Little Flower High School Kinnigoli.She completed High School studies at Madeline High School Mulki. She did her TCH at Rosa Mystica Teacher training School Kinnikambla, Mangalore. After completing TCH in 1954,she worked as a teacher for five years. Then she responded to the call of Jesus and joined Bethany on 14 September 1959 and made her first Profession on 5 May 1961 and perpetual Profession on 5 May 1967. She served as a dedicated and committed teacher at Madeline Mulki, Ave Maria Sirsi,Christ King Guledgudd, St Michael’s Dandeli, Fatima Convent Dornahalli, Pompei Convent Kinnikambla, Loretto Convent Moodubelle, Santa Cruz Convent Kulshekar, St Joseph’s Basrur, Bethany Convent Mangalore and Rosa Mystica Convent Gurpur. After her retirement she was transferred to Fatima Convent Dornahalli, and Madeline Convent Londa. In 2001 she joined Jyothi Nilaya Community Bangalore, spent her time in prayer ministry.
Sr Theodosia was a loving sister, caring and concerned about the welfare of the sisters. She had great love for the poor, the sick, the aged and the needy. She was simple and humble by nature, approachable and compassionate.She had delightful personality, full of humor and wit. She fulfilled all the assigned responsibilities placing her trust in the Lord and considering it as God given mission. She was a dedicated and committed teacher who sought the welfare of the students. Her devotion towards the Blessed Sacrament and Blessed Virgin Mary was notable. She spent time in intercessory prayers and recitation of the rosary. She was obedient, respectful and very grateful to Bethany Congregation.
She was suffering from age related sickness. On 28 March she showed signs of uneasiness.Immediately she was administered Sacrament of anointing of the sick and received the Holy Communion. On April 2, 2024, she peacefully yielded her soul to God in the presence of Sr Sahana the Provincial Superior and the members of her community.
Her Funeral rites will be held at Jyothi Nilaya Chapel Bangalore on 3 April 2024 at 10am.
