Sr Norbertine BS nee Hilda Symporian Pinto aged 75 is the member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, of Bangalore province, peacefully flew to her eternal abode on 29 October 2024 at 8.00 am at St Martha’s Hospital, Bangalore. She was born to late Mr Mark Pinto and late MrsPiad Nazareth.She Hails from the Parish of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church Kinnikambla, Gurpur, Mangalore Diocese. She is the Sixth in the family of tensiblings with seven brothers and three sisters. She has areligious sister Sr Blanch belonging to Sisters of Charity and niece Sr Maria Sudeepa in Apostolic Carmel.
Sr Norbertine completed her primary education in Pompei Parish School, and had her secondary school studies in Rosa Mystica high school, Kinnikambla. She completed her plus two in St Agnes College, Bendur and her B.Ed studies in St Joseph’s B.Ed College Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore. Having perceived a call to serve Jesus Sr Norbertine joined Bethany Congregation on 14 May 1967, making her temporary profession on 24 March 1971 and her perpetual profession on 16 May 1977.
She has served in different Communities as Superior and Headmistress in St Joseph’s Convent, KR Nagar, and efficient teacher at St Paul’s, Thenhipalam, Bethany Convent Naini, Bethany Convent, Vadakangulam, Bethany Convent Salcette, Goa, Bethany Convent, Ankola, St Mary’s Convent Kutta and St Joseph’s Convent Sagar. Her 75 years of earthly life and 52 years of religious life were made meaningful and fruitful in the mission of Education, Pastoral and clerical work. As a teacher she brightened the lives of children by imparting to them the knowledge and good values. She was also involved in the faith formation of children through catechism, visiting the families and attending SCC Meetings.
She was suffering from chronic liver disease and high diabetes for the last few years. For better medical treatment she was brought to Jyothi Nilaya Community Bangalore. On 28 October she showed symptoms of uneasiness, and was admitted to St Martha’s Hospital. Seeing her serious condition Sr Sahana the Provincial superior and Sisters of Jyothi Nilaya community rushed to the hospital and commended her soul to the eternal brideg room at 8.00 am on 29 October 2024.
I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Sahana the Provincial Superior and all the Sisters of Bangalore Province, Sr Molly Sharon the local superior and the members of St Joseph’s Convent, Sagar. Sr Precilla and the Sisters of Jyothi Nilaya Convent Bangalore fortheir tender care and spiritual accompaniment especially during her illness. We commend the soul of Sr Norbertine to to God and pray -Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul rest in peace.
Her Funeral rights will be held on Wednesday 30 October 2024 at 3.30pm at St Joseph’s Church Sagar.
