Silchar Province of Bethany Sisters has a change of guard as the first Province Administrative Team completed its first term of four years. The first Provincial Superior Sr. Lucious laid down office on 24 June, 2024 and Sr. Clara Mendonca BS was installed as the new Provincial Superior by Rev. Sr. Rose Celine, Superior General of Bethany, at a meaningful ceremony held at Holy Family Convent, Silchar, serving as the Province headquarters. The ceremony that began at 8.30 am was attended by the local superiors of the communities of the Province and members of Holy Family Convent, Silchar. The new Provincial Superior Sr. Clara will be assisted by a team of four councilors namely Sr. Harsha, Sr. Teresa Martis, Sr. Mary Laldikzuali and Sr. Prema Misquith.
A solemn Eucharistic celebration added meaning to this important milestone in the young Province’s history. Most Rev. Joachim Walder, Auxiliary Bishop of Aizawl diocese was the main celebrant. Eleven priests joined him in offering the Holy Mass adding solemnity to the occasion.
Soon after the Mass, a function was held to thank the outgoing Provincial Superior Sr. Lucious and her Councillors Sr. Clara, Sr. Surekha Lobo, Sr. Harsha and Sr. Mary Naulak and to felicitate the incoming Provincial and her team. The Province represented by the local superiors of the communities had an opportunity to express their sentiments of gratitude for all that had been and to voice their hopes for the future. A sumptuous banquet capped the day’s festivities was an experience of communion with one and all.
