Sr Angeline BS (74) of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away on Friday 27th November 2020. She is the member of Santa Cruz Convent, Kulshekar. She is the daughter of the late Hilary Fernandes and the late Carmine Fernandes and hails from Sacred Heart Church, Thodambila, Bantwal, in the Diocese of Mangalore. She has three brothers and two sisters. Her Funeral Mass will be on Friday, November 27th at 3.30 pm in Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar, Mangalore.
Sr Angeline was a person of few words and quiet by nature. She would make time to be with the Lord in prayer as well as faithful to all the community exercises. She was sensitive to the needs of others especially those who were sick in the community. Whenever helpers were absent in the community she would take initiative to provide the best for the sisters. In spite of her ill health she was generous to lend her service and guide the helpers in their work.
Sr Angeline served Bethany as an efficient Teacher in many of our institutions. She actively involved herself in the pastoral apostolate at St Joseph’s Convent Sagar, Holy Family Convent Nirkan, Lisieux Convent Puttur, Lourdes Convent Kanajar, Loretto Convent Moodubelle, St Antony’s Convent Padukone, Bethel Convent Permannur, Queen of the Missions Convent Sampaje and Ganazzano Convent Taccode. She was a lover of nature and maintained a kitchen garden. After her retirement she was involved in prayer apostolate at Nazareth Convent Bajpe, Bethany Convent Kollangana, St Xavier’s Convent Ajekar, Holy Family Convent Nirkan and Santa Cruz Convent Kulshekar.
Though Sr Angeline suffered from various ailments she served with a cheerful heart. Often she was admitted to SCS Hospital Mangalore and showed signs of improvement. Later she was taken to Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoli for uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension which resulted in chronic kidney disease. She also had chronic bronchitis. For the past three months she was suffering from severe multi-organ failure with sepsis. Due to many complications in her health, her condition deteriorated day by day in spite of the best treatment given to her. Sr Dr Jeevitha and the sisters of Maryvale Convent offered prayerful support by being at her bedside. On27thNovember at 8.15am she breathed her last and offered her soul to God.
I extend my sincere condolences to Sr CiciliaMendonca, the Provincial Superior and her teamas well as Sr Ida Janet, the Superior and the community at Santa Cruz Kulshekar for the loving care that they bestowed on her especially during her illness.
Eternal rest grantunto her, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace!
